My Story

Hello! Welcome to my blog! My name is Jenn and my husband and I have been blessed with 4 children between 2009 and 2014.  We have a very busy household!! I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising, reading and watching The Big Bang Theory (and if The Office with Michael Scott was still on air, I would be watching that too).

My weight has fluctuated throughout my entire life.  I have tried several “diets” with my first one starting in 6th grade.  So, about the 4 kids in 5 years….I gained 48 lb, 43 lb, 47 lb, and 27 lb consecutively (and lost it each time).  I have really put my body through some tough times.  After baby # 3 I decided that I had to put an end to this.  No more “diets” no more crazy attempts to lose weight as fast as possible.  I decided to make some major lifestyle changes and try to achieve health, fitness, and balance instead.  I have exercised all along and throughout each pregnancy, but my weight gain is proof that you can exercise all you want but it will not fix all of your problems (and obviously I have some food choices and portion control problems).

As you can see by my weight gain on baby # 4, I have really come a long way! I only gained 27 lbs instead of 47 lbs.  And, my final weight on baby # 4 was actually 29 lbs less than the final weight of baby # 3.  It was like a miracle!

I remember all too well how unhappy I was with myself and how uncomfortable I was in my own skin after #3.  There were so many things about my life that I wanted to change.  I wanted more confidence, I wanted to be healthy, and I wanted to reach my goal weight and keep it!  I wanted to look forward to getting dressed up instead of dreading it.  I was unable to exercise and go to the gym like I used to because of circumstances with my children.  I missed exercise for my body as well as my mind.  I also needed to change my eating habits for good.  I have a bad habit of running out of time to eat (because I try to do dishes/laundry while the kids eat) then I end up starving, then I overeat anything I can get my hands on.

So what happened between baby # 3 and #4? I had to make some major lifestyle changes.  I have an ever changing list of goals that I want to accomplish along my journey.  As far as food, I made the decision to change my food choices and way of eating.  I try to keep my family eating as clean as possible.  I stumble along the way, but for the most part I make healthy choices.  I have also included Shakeology into my daily routine.  Shakeology gives me the ability to make something very quickly that actually fills me up.  I also use Shakeology as a way to sneak in some of my daily water ounces.  My results in this area have been really exciting.  I have lost weight, but I have had some other really awesome bonuses as well.  I don’t suffer from nearly as many headaches, I sleep better at night, I am not nearly as puffy/bloated looking, and my allergy symptoms are much better.  I just feel better when I am making good food choices.

One of the most exciting (to me anyway) changes I have made is to totally change the way I exercise.  I was always a slow jogger and would even jog up to 20 miles weekly, sometimes more.  I love just going out for a jog, but it was getting me nowhere fast…literally.  I decided to invest in BeachBody fitness programs, and actually stick with them.  I have found a trainer that I absolutely love to work out with (thanks Chalene Johnson!) and have gotten some amazing results along the way.  These BeachBody programs have been awesome! I look forward to them each day because I am having fun completing them.  I have noticed changes along the way too.  I have gotten stronger, kept weight off, and they have actually helped to improve my jogging.  These programs have been a lifesaver! They give me the ability to get quality, challenging exercise with kids, without leaving the house, and without getting a babysitter!  They have given me such a sense of accomplishment that I did not have before.  BeachBody, Chalene, and the people I get to interact and learn from have given me much more than exercise programs.  They have helped me to start dreaming again.

I followed turbofire (modified) throughout my entire pregnancy with baby #4.  As you can see from above, I didn’t gain nearly as much weight (20 lbs less!) and was ready to start exercising asap after his birth.  This has been my fastest post pregnancy recovery yet.  Don’t get me wrong it has been hard work, but I am getting there.

I was letting fear hold me back in the past.  I was afraid to try new things and never able to make the decision to just go for it and change for good.  Becoming a BeachBody coach has enabled me to step out of my comfort zone, make new friends, and help others along the way.  I have really enjoyed all of the interaction with my team, helping others, learning, thinking, the discount, and of course the free tshirts! So, thank you BeachBody for giving me that “something” I was missing back!
